Travel

I got the travel bug in the summer of 2017 when I got the opportunity to go to New York and Barcelona, Spain. After my trip to NYC I decided that it was the greatest place in the world. I am so obsessed with New York City because of the energy the city holds. Yes, I know its dirty, loud and crowded but that kind of environment makes me excited to get up every day. That kind of environment is what pushes you to make your dreams come true. Later that summer I also traveled to Spain by myself and eventually met up with some other students from Texas State, but I had never traveled out of the country before so it made me extremely nervous, but it showed me that I can do whatever and go where ever I set my mind to.

While I was in New York City I stayed in Times Square which was a blessing and a curse. It was a blessing because I was close to the generic tourist attractions, but it was a curse because my mom got trapped into so many tourist traps. We even almost got scammed by a psychic who has been exposed on national television several times. My favorite part of my trip to New York was getting to see so many classic original works of art at the Museum of Modern Art. My mom and I were also lucky enough to be in New York during the time of the battle between the bull statue and the young girl statue on Wall street. I'm pretty sure my mom and I ended up on the news at some point while we were on Wall street. I also learned that Broadway is huge and the statue of liberty is a lot smaller in person while I was in New York. The great city also inspired me to be more creative in the way I dress because the locals in NYC know how to serve looks. All in all New York City was fantastic and I'm always looking for a good excuse to go back up there sometime soon.

Barcelona, Spain was another huge journey in its self, I learned so much about myself on that trip around the world. I also gained some of the best friends ever on that trip and I was so excited that I was able to continue the friendships once we got back to Texas State. I spent 6 weeks in Spain and I'll be honest I did experience quite a bit of culture shock while I was over there. You don't realize sometimes how different cultures can be but I was so thrilled to be over there eating new food, hearing new music, and seeing new sights. My favorite thing about Spain was the paella, that food dish was so good and I still miss it to this day. I also really enjoyed how old Europe is, America is still a young country and we don't have all of the monuments and architexture that Europe does. Being the huge fan of art that I am I was so thrilled to be able to go to Salvador Dali's house in Figures, Spain. Dali is my favorite artist of all time so I was in awe throughout my entire visit to his home. I saw some of the best art in this entire world at his home and I still think about it every day. I hold my trip to Barcelona very close to my heart and I am so greatful I was able to go on that journey.
